About Us
The Rug Lady specializes in professional cleaning, de-bleeding, hole restoration, hand binding, non-slip underlay and invisible wall mounting
We have been professionally restoring rugs since 1994. Our experience with Canadian and American patterns of hooked rugs includes Chéticamp, Grenfell, Garrett, Tremblay; Frost, Hutchison and Waldoboro to name a few.
Our extensive inventory of materials includes period fabrics such as silk stockings, early cotton, wool yarn, wool remnants, jute and even parachute fabric for restoration.
Natural lighting and special light bulbs ensure accurate matching of colors and textures. Our hand binding features moth proof and mildew resistant thread. For restoration of holes, tears and worn areas we use linen as backing fabric. Our non-slip underlay is naturally antimicrobial and is mould and mildew resistant. Wash it in the washing machine and hang to dry.
Sensitivity and painstaking attention to detail are the hallmarks of our acclaimed workmanship. That is why we employ fine and reversible techniques that will not damage the textile or compromise the work’s original artistry.
Our average turn around is 4 to 16 weeks. If you are an antique dealer and require your hooked rugs ready for a show, we will make every effort to accommodate you.
